Limping, loss of balance, weakness in the limbs, dragging legs, difficulty standing, or reluctance to bear weight — these signs may stem from problems in the bones, joints, muscles, brain, spinal cord, or a combination of systems.

That is why Ability Center connects specialists from three disciplines — Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation, Orthopedics, and Neurology & Spine — to jointly assess, diagnose, and design a personalised treatment plan for each patient. This reduces gaps between referrals, keeps all treatment information connected at every stage, and ensures your pet receives continuous, uninterrupted care from the moment a problem is first noticed to the day they can move and live with their family again.

Rehabilitation (Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation)

Restores movement, reduces pain, and rebuilds muscle strength to help your pet return to as normal a life as possible.

Covers post-surgical recovery, limb weakness, osteoarthritis, muscle injuries, senior pet care, and pre-treatment conditioning.

Orthopedics (Bone & Joint)

Diagnoses and treats abnormalities of the bones, joints, ligaments, and muscles — from non-surgical management to complex orthopaedic surgery.

Covers fractures, dislocations, patellar luxation, cruciate ligament rupture, hip dysplasia, and degenerative joint disease.

Neurology (Brain, Nervous System & Spine)

Manages conditions of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles — including seizures, ataxia, limb weakness, paralysis, intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), and other neurological disorders.

The specialist team jointly evaluates the nervous system, bones, joints, muscles, pain levels, and overall quality of life to design a care plan tailored to each individual patient.

Diagnostic findings and treatment plans are shared across all teams involved — from examination and medication, through surgery, to physiotherapy and follow-up — reducing duplication and ensuring continuity of care.

Connected Through Every Step — From Diagnosis to Recovery

1. Assess symptoms and mobility

The veterinarian examines the patient, evaluating gait, balance, pain, neurological responses, and the function of joints and muscles.

2. Identify the underlying cause

Appropriate diagnostics are selected for each patient, such as blood work, Digital X-ray, Ultrasound, CT Scan, or MRI, at the veterinarian’s discretion.

3. Collaborative planning by specialist teams

Veterinarians from the relevant specialist centers review results together and design a treatment plan, taking into account the condition, age, overall health, and lifestyle of the patient.

4. Appropriate treatment or surgery

Some patients can be managed with medication, activity restriction, and physiotherapy. Others may require surgery to address the underlying cause.

5. Rehabilitation and follow-up

The physiotherapy team designs a recovery programme, monitors progress, and adjusts the plan according to the patient’s response at each stage.

6. Prevent re-injury

Owners receive guidance on exercise, weight management, home environment adjustments, and ongoing care to reduce the risk of re-injury or recurrence.

When Should You Bring Your Pet In?

You should consult a veterinarian if your pet shows signs of unsteady walking, loss of balance, limb weakness, dragging legs, reluctance to bear weight, difficulty rising or sitting down, limping, crying out when the neck, back, or legs are touched, or a general unwillingness to walk or play. This also includes pets recovering from surgery, or senior pets beginning to lose muscle mass and mobility.

For cases involving seizures, paralysis, inability to rise, severe trauma, or rapidly worsening condition, please contact the hospital immediately and bring your pet in for urgent care.
