Potter’s Shocking Snack: A Case of Foreign Body Ingestion

Hello everyone, my name is Potter! My mom rushed me to the hospital after I got a bit too mischievous and decided to eat some electrical wires, which made me vomit.

Upon arrival, the veterinarian performed a radiography (X-ray), which revealed a significant amount of electrical wire still lodged within Potter’s gastrointestinal (GI) tract. To manage this without immediate surgery, Potter was admitted for close observation.

Dr. Jittiya implemented a non-invasive treatment plan using emetics (medication to induce vomiting) and laxatives to help Potter pass the remaining wires naturally. After several rounds of treatment, Potter successfully vomited and defecated the foreign objects. A follow-up X-ray confirmed that his GI tract was completely clear. Potter has since been discharged and is back to his playful self at home!
