A canine patient was rushed to Thonglor Pet Hospital, Rama 2 Branch, presenting with severe lethargy, anorexia, weakness, high fever, and abnormal vaginal discharge. These are the classic clinical signs of Pyometra (an infected, pus-filled uterus).
Upon arrival, the veterinary team conducted a physical examination, X-rays, and an abdominal ultrasound. The imaging revealed a severely distended uterus, confirming the diagnosis. The patient underwent emergency surgery, during which the veterinarian removed an infected uterus measuring over 30 cm in length.
Pyometra is a preventable condition. For owners who do not intend to breed their pets, we highly recommend early spaying (ovariohysterectomy). Regular health check-ups with your veterinarian can help determine the best preventive care plan and ensure your pet lives a long, healthy life.
