During Home Isolation

• Masks and Gloves are Essential: Think of these as your primary armor. Even if symptoms in pets are generally mild, always wear a mask and gloves when you are in the same room or handling their needs to minimize the viral load.
• Social Distancing with Love: It’s hard, but you must pause the hugs, kisses, and snuggles for a while. Treat your pets as you would any human family member—keep a safe distance to prevent the virus from spreading to them.
• No Alcohol Baths! If you accidentally touch your pet, do not panic and never use alcohol or harsh sanitizers on their fur. Simply ask an uninfected family member to give them a standard bath using pet-friendly shampoo.

If You Are Hospitalized

• A Trusted Guardian: If you must stay at a hospital or Hospitel, find a person your pet is already familiar with to care for them. Changing environments can be stressful. Crucial Note: The temporary caregiver should also avoid letting the pet lick them or sleeping in the same bed during the first few days.
• Professional Boarding: If no one is available, professional pet boarding is your best option. Important: Always inform the facility that you have tested positive so they can take extra precautions during intake.
