Caring for your dog at each life stage is extremely important, since each age requires a different care approach -- diet, toys, and even health checkups all vary by life stage. Today, we've got a checklist for examining your dog at each stage of life.

Newborn Puppy to 1 Year

• Vaccinations
• Basic physical exam
• Complete blood count
• Deworming and tick/flea prevention

Dogs Age 1-5 Years

• Complete blood count
• Liver and kidney function test
• Blood glucose test
• Chest X-ray (lungs and heart)

Dogs Age 5 Years and Older

• Eye exam
