1. Vaccinate against disease -- No matter the season, your dog can be at risk of illness at any time, so it's best to make sure they've had their vaccinations. 

2. Dry your pet's coat and paws thoroughly every time they come in from the rain. 

3. Food and water must always be fresh and clean. 

4. Your pet's bed must always be dry and never damp. 

5. Watch for unusual itching or excessive licking.
